Why did you join the financial planning industry?

Almost 9 years ago, my entry into the financial planning industry was driven by a combination of curiosity and a strong desire for self-improvement. Initially fuelled by an eagerness to understand personal finance better, my journey evolved, fostering a genuine love for the industry. Interacting with diverse clients online, each with unique circumstances and a proactive approach to planning their future, became an exciting aspect of my role. Collaborating with knowledgeable financial advisers, passionate about helping clients achieve their financial goals, further deepened my appreciation for this dynamic field. Witnessing clients' pride in their accomplishments and enthusiasm about their future is a source of immense satisfaction.

What is your day-to-day role at Vista Financial Group?

As a senior paraplanner at Vista Financial Group, my primary role involves collaborating with financial advisers to strategise the best course of action for our clients. This includes client updates, thorough strategy research, and creating financial projections to illustrate the long-term impact of specific strategies or assumptions. My responsibilities extend to compiling this information into a comprehensive document called the Statement of Advice or Record of Advice. Ensuring that these advice documents reflect advisers' strategic recommendations, align with clients' current circumstances in easily understandable terms, and comply with relevant legislation and regulations is crucial to my role.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The aspect I find most rewarding in my job is the continuous learning opportunities. The financial planning industry is ever-evolving, presenting new challenges and unique client situations daily. Witnessing clients' satisfaction and pride in their achievements over time adds an extra layer of fulfillment to my work.

Share a quirky or unique habit you have that helps you stay productive at work.

To stay productive, I have a delightful habit of petting my little dachshund whenever I feel sleepy or overwhelmed. His company never fails to boost my energy. Additionally, I make it a point to hike or find solace in nature during weekends or breaks, ensuring a refreshing break from work.

When and where was your best vacation?

My best vacations were in December 2022 and December 2023. In 2022, I visited Boracay, enjoying its pristine beaches and fine sand. In 2023, I embarked on adventurous activities like Canyoneering in Cebu's Kawasan waterfalls and hiking four of the top 10 highest mountains in the Philippines. The experiences were exhilarating and left lasting memories.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I immerse myself in nature through frequent hikes, relishing the tranquillity it offers. I also indulge in swimming, whether in waterfalls or beaches, expressing my love for the beach and the sun.

If you were a character in a TV show or movie, who would you be, and why?

Not a devoted movie person, I find joy in living in the present and being my own character. While fictional characters and sci-fi movies are intriguing, I embrace my individuality and the experiences of the real world.
