Why did you decide to become a financial planner?
Since a young age, I took an interest in saving money and buying shares. I purchased my first term deposit (sadly?) when I was about ten years old from a combination of birthday money and saving pocket money from small jobs such as mowing the lawns!
After 15 or so years largely in corporate, I joined Vista in March 2018 allowing me to work directly on my passion, helping more Australians achieve their financial goals.
Where was your last holiday?
We managed to escape to Noosa in early June. My parents migrate north from Country Victoria to Port Douglas each year and we have been meeting them in Noosa for a week’s vacation the past two years. Escaping Melbourne’s winter for a few days in the sunshine I find allows you to re-energise and come back refreshed!
What do you do in your spare time?
With a young family, most of my spare time is spent hanging out with my two-year-old daughter and wife, Harriette. Outside of that, I enjoy watching sports and getting out for a run.
Favourite sports team?
Geelong Cats. I tend to follow a number of sports, but Geelong is definitely my favourite sports team and fortunately, we have had a reasonable run at it over the past 15 years.
What is harder, running a business with sixteen people or being a dad to a two-year-old?
I am fortunate the team at Vista and Master Your Money Now, make that an easy one to answer! Undoubtedly looking after Francesca.
As much as I love spending time with our young family, kudos to the stay-at-home parents out there as it’s a different sort of tired you get from looking after a young one all day!
