Introducing Wes Howell, a seasoned professional in the field of paraplanning with over two decades of experience since early 2001. In his role as a senior paraplanner, Wes collaborates closely with our advisers, focusing on the meticulous aspects of financial planning. His dedication lies in ensuring the development of tailored plans that enable our clients to achieve their financial goals. Beyond the numbers and charts, Wes's passion extends to the realm of sports, with a particular fervour for AFL football and cricket.

Why did you join the financial planning industry?

In February 2001, my entry into the financial planning industry was driven by a genuine desire to assist individuals in navigating their financial journeys. The opportunity to provide valuable guidance and positively impact people's lives was a compelling motivation that drew me into this field.

What is your day-to-day role at Vista Financial Group/ BEA Financial?

As a paraplanner at Vista Financial Group/BEA Financial, my daily responsibilities revolve around supporting the financial planners. This includes the meticulous crafting of advice documents, such as Record of Advice (ROA) and Statement of Advice (SOA). My role ensures the financial planning process flows seamlessly, empowering our clients to make informed decisions about their financial future.

Share a quirky or unique habit you have that helps you stay productive at work.

To stay productive at work, I have a quirky habit of singing to myself. It brings a touch of joy and rhythm to my tasks, creating a positive and energised atmosphere that enhances my focus and creativity.

When and where was your best vacation?

One of my most cherished vacation memories dates back to 2012 when I explored the vibrant city of Las Vegas. The electrifying nightlife, iconic casinos, and captivating shows made it an unforgettable experience. The diverse entertainment options and the dynamic atmosphere of the city left a lasting impression on my travel adventures.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my leisure time, I find great joy in immersing myself in sports, both as a spectator and a participant. Whether it's the thrill of watching a live game or actively engaging in a match, sports serve as a dynamic and invigorating outlet during my downtime.

If you were a character in a TV show or movie, who would you be, and why?

If I were to identify with a character from a TV show or movie, it would be Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. The connection goes beyond the screen, as I used to have a dog named Scooby. Shaggy's laid-back and easygoing personality aligns with my own, creating a nostalgic and personal association with the character.

Favourite Team Sports?

Among the myriad of sports, my heart lies with team activities, particularly AFL football and cricket. The adrenaline rush from an AFL match, coupled with the strategic brilliance of cricket, creates a perfect balance of excitement and camaraderie for me. Whether I'm cheering for my favourite AFL team or enjoying a game of cricket, these sports hold a special place in my leisure pursuits, providing a refreshing break from the daily routine.
